Google wants to fully participate in the AI race with Gemini, but it has already had a bumpy road. A major rebranding was carried out in February, but Gemini is not yet at the same level as ChatGPT in terms of brand awareness. To change that, Google now seems to be using a trump card that it has always kept up to date: the Chrome web browser.
Billions of people use Google’s web browser (current numbers are almost 3.5 billion), so it sounds like a logical step for the company to integrate Gemini deeper into Chrome. Now this is done by placing Gemini in the address bar of Chrome. Means @Twins You can ask the AI assistant a question by typing in the address bar. This eliminates the need to surf to the Gemini website (or ChatGPTs) first.
Google also includes Gemini in its other popular applications. Gemini can now also answer questions about emails in Gmail and files in Drive. You can tell Gemini to search for specific information in an email conversation or a specific file. These are all ways to bring Gemini to the attention of users deep in the Google ecosystem.
Since the rebranding, Gemini is also available as a mobile application. In the long term, Gemini will have to replace the Google Assistant app on your phone. Google announces launch in another hundred countries and eight additional languages. The mobile version of Gemini now speaks French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Chinese, Japanese and Korean in addition to English.
For the time being, Google is completely ignoring countries in the European Union with the Gemini mobile application, as are Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Bard also arrived in our region much later last year than in the rest of the world. The web version of Gemini is available in Belgium and can answer your questions in Dutch.
