Under the name “Jira”, Atlassian combines its Jira software and its Jira work management tool to optimize collaboration between different teams.

Atlassian announced that it is combining its Jira Software and Jira Work Management under one product: Jira. With this, the company aims to bridge the gap between different teams by creating a common place to offer a cross-functional tool. Different teams such as marketing, sales, IT or human resources can seamlessly align their projects and goals with some new functions. The new Jira is now available.

Common space for each team

Previously, Jira Software and Jira Work Management were able to connect, but now Atlassian goes one step further. This new combined version, called “Jira,” will reduce friction and help diverse teams achieve common goals. To create this connection between teams, Jira is bringing some new features to the platform.

  • Shared goals: Users can create shared goals in Jira list and issue views to gain insight into how each task connects to a larger goal across teams. This feature will be rolled out in the coming months.
  • Atlassian Intelligence: The AI work department may soon make suggestions for splitting epics into issues or issues into subtasks to make each individual’s work clear. The AI tool is currently in beta for Jira Premium and Enterprise users.
  • List view: Board and timeline views are no strangers to Jira, but inline and bulk editing is now possible for Sheets enthusiasts.
  • Shared release dates: Software project release dates can be reflected in corresponding company projects to keep everyone on the same page.
  • Increased visibility: Within the Jira Premium and Enterprise subscriptions, issues from different boards, projects and filters can be combined to provide a comprehensive overview.

For users with a Jira Software subscription, the new Jira is now available with no price changes. Users with a Jira Work Management subscription can find more information about implementing the changes on the Atlassian site.
