While we’re still waiting for the Galaxy Ring to arrive, Designs like this Amazfit Helio are already starting to appear, which aim to be a more than interesting alternative to the Samsung ring. And the most interesting part is that it tells us that, at least in its predictions, the smart ring market seems destined to have a long journey in the market, if its manufacturers are able to find a good balance between features and prices.
For now, waiting for Samsung ring and Amazfit HelioApart from the whispers of the Apple project, the clearest reference on the market is Oura, which has a price starting at 329 euros for the model with a plateau on top and 399 for the completely circular version. A price to which, yes, we have to add a monthly subscription (5.99 euros/month) to enjoy all the analytics that can be extracted from the data obtained by the ring.
Waiting for the price of the Galaxy ring and if it is like the Amafit Helio which It will go on sale in the US on May 15they will also offer these analyzes through a paid subscription, already the Amazfit model it starts at a lower price, $299 (although we will have to see what happens with the change to other currencies) in a single version, completely circular and built from titanium alloy, which allows its weight to be only four grams.
As for its measurement, the Amazfit Helio will be able to measure fresting heart rate, pulse oximetry (SpO2), body temperature, heart and respiratory rate variability, a data set that will allow for multiple assessments, including one that has been highly regarded for some time, the sleep quality assessment. Based on all this data, according to Amazfit, the user will receive a daily rating from 0 to 100 of their health status.
It is obvious that the ring will not have the capacity to process the mentioned data, so it is a big question whether this function will fall on the device on which we will install the application to access it (it will have an application for Android and iOS) or Yes, as I mentioned, it will depend on the cloud service, which seems likely. If the service offers the necessary security for this type of data, and if it’s free or its cost (whether through monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual payments) is significantly lower than Oura’s, then yes, we may encounter an interesting possibility.
