Iranian authorities have executed at least 63 people in prison in the second half of April, which brings 174 in just the first four months of the yearhe said this Thursday Iranian human rights (IHRNGO), an organization based in Norway.
Of the total number of executions over the past month (71), 44 people were charged with drug trafficking, 26 with murder and one with rape.according to the organization’s calculations.
Executions in the Asian country resumed in April after parliamentary elections, the Iranian New Year and Ramadan.
“Over the past two weeks, the Islamic Republic has executed one person every five hours without any political consequences. States that respect human rights and have diplomatic relations with Iran must respond to the wave of executions,” IHRNGO director Mahmoud Amiri-Moghaddam said in a statement.
Iran Human Rights Organization (IHRNGO), born in 2005 and registered in Norway since 2009, claims to be made up of people from inside and outside Iran and has members in the US, Canada, Japan and several European countries.
