UNESCO presents the 2024 World Press Freedom Prize to Palestinian journalists in the Gaza Strip

United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) provided this Thursday UNESCO/Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize 2024 To Palestinian journalists which cover war in the Gaza Strip for “his courage and dedication to his cause.”

The award was presented this Thursday at ceremony at the Museum of Modern Artin Santiago, within 31st World Press Freedom Conference which is celebrated this week in Chile and was picked up by a reporter and the president of the Union of Palestinian Journalists, Nasser Abubakerrepresenting all journalists in the Gaza Strip.

“I feel joy and pride, but this joy is mixed with sadness over the death of so many tortured journalists, as well as determination and desire to demand accountability and find the killers.”said Abubaker, whose union represents nearly 4,000 journalists.

It is funded by the Guillermo Cano Isaza Foundation (Colombia), the Helsingin Sanomat Foundation (Finland), the Namibia Media Trust and the Democracy & Media Stichting Democratie & Foundation.
