New rumors mention Tomb Raider’s future existence in an open world

Despite the fatigue shown by some of the public and the crisis the industry is experiencing due to trying to live above their means, it seems that there are still developers and publishers willing to continue betting on open worlds. After Resident Evil 9, it’s time for the next installment Tomb Raiderwhich according to the latest rumors would be set in India and would be available to Lara motorcycle and parachute to travel around the map.

The information about the alleged open-world Tomb Raider comes from a leaker who calls himself V Scooper in X, who is a movie expert. According to this person, the launch of the said game would happen in less than a year if everything goes according to plan. In addition, he also mentioned some of the plot, context, and gameplay:

“A natural disaster has struck northern India, revealing the ruins and artifacts of the ancient emperor Ashoka. Lara strategically competes against the Raider Society and other rivals for these powerful relics. The Raider Society is inspired by Lara, who is not affiliated yet, and they could have opposite plans. It is also related to this a new feature based on recruiting teams and allies to help you strategically in missions and defeat your opponents. The emphasis here is on the new non-lethal fighting option“.

The last unreleased and “strong” game in the saga is Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which was released in 2018, so the new part is still waiting for a long time. In fact, it was reported two years ago that it would use Unreal Engine 5 as its engine instead of Crystal Dynamics’ own Foundation Engine. At least by the time the game would be released by Amazon, who would be planning to create an interconnected universe with movies, series and other video games.

More details about the alleged open-world Tomb Raider may be revealed at the upcoming Summer Game Fest, if it ends up being an open world video game. Crystal Dynamic, on the other hand, is said to be developing the next installment of Perfect Dark, a first-person shooter that had a brutal and truly impressive debut on the Nintendo 64, but which became an IP that fell into irrelevance under Microsoft/Xbox.

We will see how Crystal Dynamics will do, because we must not forget that the developer was sold by Square Enix to the Embracer Group, which in turn is far from going through good times and that is why Gearbox was sold to Take-Two.
