It’s so true, isn’t it 6G is the future of wireless telecommunications, as if we have to wait a few more years before we start enjoying the benefits of the future generation. To give some context to this statement, suffice it to say that 5G deployment is still years away from completion, and we can confirm this both globally and if we focus on Spain, as you can see in the map below this paragraph, taken from the website of the Ministry of Economy and digital transformation:

6G reaches 100 Gbps in the test

Although there is still a lot of work ahead of us to make this happen, plans currently call for 6G deployment to begin in South Korea in 2028. May it be already by the time we reach 2030, when its adoption in other countries will accelerate, starting most likely with several Asian countries. In our case, we know that the major carriers already have their eyes on this future connectivity technology, but there’s not much to say at this point.

Needs though it can act as an accelerator for your development and deployment because, as we told you less than three months ago, there is a growing need for ultra-fast, high-bandwidth mobile connectivity that offers enormous levels of reliability. The most perfect example of this need can be found in autonomous vehicles, which in one way or another depend on the cloud for their operation, but this is only one of the examples that we already find today and which will undoubtedly grow as the deployment of these networks approaches.

On the other hand, we are talking about extremely complex developments that require many years of work, which explains why we have known for some time about the tests that are carried out for their development. And it is in this sense that we find very promising news, and that’s all Recently conducted tests made it possible to reach 100 Gbps in a 6G connection. To give some context, we’re talking about a connection around 10 times faster than the peak achieved with 5G, and around 500 times faster than the average 5G phone.

The test was conducted with a prototype specifically designed to perform this evaluation and was performed in the spectrum range between 100 gigahertz and 300 gigahertz, with a distance of 100 meters between the devices used for this. Whether it will be the top speed of 6G or, on the contrary, we are still waiting for tests that show a higher speed, of course remains to be seen.
