At the operating systems party Windows 10 is still the king and queen of the dance. A few days ago we already told you that its market share is much higher than that of Windows 11 and this morning we gave this situation some thought, which we can summarize by saying that the success of one of its products represents, however, which is a failure for Microsoft because the poor level of adoption of Windows 11 compared to what they should no doubt expect in Redmond.

We’ve seen it over time Microsoft has stepped up its active policy when it comes to encouraging Windows 10 users to upgrade to Windows 11. So far in 2024 alone, we have already seen several actions in this sense, for example in February and April, the latter with the bonus that the messages were displayed even on computers that are not compatible with the latest version of Windows for not meeting the minimum requirements. Although, perhaps because they had already planned it earlier, also last month Microsoft decided to reduce the minimum requirements of Windows 11.

On the other hand, within each operating system Microsoft always tries to ensure that its users stay on the most up-to-date version.. In this regard, in February we saw how the update to version 23H2 began to be pushed to all Windows 11 users with previous versions, and a few weeks ago we learned that in April they “sneak” Moments 5 with Patch Tuesday. However, and as surprising as it may seem, this has not been the case so far in the Windows 10 to Windows migration process.

If you have done this update recently, you would most likely find this Jumping from Windows 10 to Windows 11 did not install the same version of 23H2. So far this has not been the case for 100% of users, but it is for the vast majority. This way, if you wanted to be fully updated, you had to do it in two steps, first from 10 to 11 and then update Windows 11 to version 23H2, to which we have to add the subsequent installation of newer updates. In short, a process that should have been done quickly and easily ended up being a festival of updates and reboots. Because? I wish I knew.

Luckily Redmond seems to have decided it’s time to simplify the process a bit and as we read in Windows Latest, Microsoft finally made it possible to directly upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 23H2. That way, people who are interested in taking the leap but haven’t yet for whatever reason save themselves a step that made the whole process more difficult.

However, it would be interesting to know the reason why a direct upgrade was not generally the preferred option, as users who upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11 22H2 could subsequently go to 23H2, which tells us that It wasn’t a compatibility issue..
