In three days it will be one year since the Pixel tablet was unveiled at Google I/O 2023, a device that quite impressed us from the first moment for several reasons, which I will focus on later. As my colleague Juan said in the recap of the said launch, we were faced with a tablet that came to the market to take on the almighty Apple iPad and bring some joy to the market, the mid-range and high-end tablet market. .

The bad news was this The Pixel Tablet was originally aimed exclusively at the American market. It’s understandable that since this is the first generation (with all that that entails), it’s obvious that Google would like to limit its reach, I can understand this with a view to jumping into other markets later. This, combined with the many rumors that have appeared recently, led us to think that the technology company will present its next generation at the very close Google I/O 2024, and that it will premiere in multiple markets from day one.

However, today we found a surprise, that along with the announcement of the Pixel 8a, Google also told us that the Pixel Tablet is making the jump to the international market, making it to Spain. So now it seems very unlikely that the next generation will be announced anytime soon, as it would be somewhat surprising if Google decided to keep different versions for the US market and the rest.

Google Pixel Tablet: technical specifications

As we can see by checking its specifications, We meet a tablet that is between the middle and the middle range., a space that, as I mentioned before, has been quite neglected by the industry, although it actually has huge development potential if the right conditions are met. This base functions as a charging station, support for passive use of the tablet, a speaker (which offers a great improvement over the speakers integrated in the tablet, especially in terms of bass reproduction) and, in addition, allows the device to be used as a central controller of the home infrastructure connected via Google Home. Google made a good move by making it an option as it allows you to adjust the price of the Pixel tablet, but personally I think the best option is the one that consists of the tablet and the base.

Another notable feature is of course its integration with the rest of the Pixel ecosystem and Google products and services. One of the cards that Apple has played exceptionally well has been building a very well-coherent ecosystem, something that Google replicates very well and can achieve much greater reach, both given the growth of the Pixel family and, above all, the enormous level of implementation of Google’s services.

Another more than remarkable feature of this Pixel Tablet is that includes Chromecast, which means that in combination with a multi-function base, we can use it remotely to play content sent from other devices. On the other hand, since its launch, Google has been working with developers to optimize their apps for the Pixel Tablet, which is undoubtedly a significant improvement over the way it was when it launched.

We are talking about a device from the Pixel family, which Google is also targeting her abilities in relation to artificial intelligence and functions that are based on it. Let’s recall in this sense that the Pixel Tablet has the same SoC and the same RAM memory as the Pixel 7 and 7a, two models that have already received a large part of the AI ​​functions that are also present in the Pixel. 8 generation, so we can expect something similar for the Pixel Tablet.
