Bancontact Payconiq introduces an easier way to pay with meal vouchers. Payconiq app users can now pay with one scan using their meal vouchers and their bank account linked to the app.
If the remaining amount of the meal vouchers is not enough, the app automatically debits the remaining amount from your bank account. Previously, two separate payments had to be made.
The combined payment is initially available at more than 3,000 merchants in Belgium, such as bakeries or coffee bars, that accept meal vouchers and offer Payconiq via a QR code on a sticker or on their smartphone via Payconiq Go, which replaces the payment terminal.
For large retailers such as supermarkets, combined payment with meal vouchers and the linked bank account via Payconiq is currently not possible, but this is planned for the future, according to the company.
The function for paying with meal vouchers is automatically activated in the app. The option can be disabled at any time if the user prefers to pay the entire amount using their bank account.
This new functionality of combined payment with meal vouchers will soon also be available in KBC Mobile.
Payconiq emphasizes that the feature only works if you can link your bank account to the app. This works today with these banks: Argenta, Axa Bank, Bank van Breda, Banque CPH, Banx, Belfius, Beobank, BNP Paribas Fortis, CBC Bank, Crelan, Fintro, Hello Bank!, ING, KBC Bank, KBC Brussels, Keytrade Bank and vdk bank.
