The Chanye-6 automatic space station has completed lunar deceleration and successfully entered lunar orbit, Xinhua News Agency reported, citing the China National Space Administration (CNSA).
For almost a month, the Chinese probe will remain in orbit of the moon, and then the main mission of the flight will begin – the delivery of soil to our planet from the far side of the natural satellite.
The other schedule of the Chanye-6 probe looks like this:
- June 1 – separation of the lander from the orbital compartment;
- June 2 – Landing on the far side of the Moon, sampling;
- June 4 – beginning of the take-off phase with regolith samples;
- June 6 – docking of the takeoff stage and orbital apparatus, reloading of samples into the return apparatus;
- June 20 – launch vehicle returns to Earth;
- June 25 – Return to Earth.
