To get a good answer from Copilot or other generative AI applications, it is important to ask the right question. This seems easier than it is because AI, just like humans, needs sufficient context. If you give a colleague unclear instructions, you cannot expect them to complete the job successfully.

Not everyone has to be an accomplished person prompt engineer because Microsoft makes communication with Copilot easier. From now on, the AI ​​assistant not only provides you with answers to your questions, but can also ask the question itself for you. Microsoft then adds instant autocomplete and rewrite features to Copilot.

Ask the right question

If you’re not sure how to phrase the prompt, Copilot will help you get on the right track. When you start typing a prompt, Copilot now automatically offers completion suggestions. In addition to completion, Copilot can also rewrite prompts. With the click of a button, Copilot transforms simple prompts into more detailed descriptions of exactly what you want.

Microsoft is also adding Catch Up to Copilot, a new chat interface that provides responsive recommendations based on your personal activity. For example, if Copilot discovers that an appraisal meeting with your boss is scheduled for next Thursday, Copilot will help you prepare for the meeting. Copilot Labs will soon also allow you to create prompts tailored specifically to your teams to make the AI ​​experience even more personal.

It’s no coincidence that Microsoft is making the Copilot announcements today. It announces the results of its annual Work Trend Index, a global study of what’s going on in the workplace. Unsurprisingly, AI is the common thread throughout the report.

The study shows that three out of four knowledge workers today use AI in some way and that AI skills are also intended to help them find work, but business leaders still struggle to develop a concrete vision and implementation plan around the technology. Microsoft itself boasts that those who use Copilot have to read up to eleven percent fewer emails and carry out up to ten percent more edits in Word, Excel and PowerPoint files.
