Hopefully next week at Google I/O 2024 Google gives us a good preview of Android 15, the future version of the world’s most used mobile operating system. We’ve been expecting this to be the case for a while now, but after the tech company surprised us yesterday with the device announcements (with the Pixel 8a pre-launch and the international launch of the Pixel Tablet) we were expecting for the event, now more than ever we think decided to focus the event on software and services this year.

As you may recall, the first developer-only beta was released in February, and since then, adjusting to the official calendar, we’ve seen the arrival of the second developer preview and, more recently, the first operating system beta. Three versions that, if you read us regularly, you will have verified They have already helped us get a lot of information about what we can expect from Android 15, with a few months to go before its final version is ready and begins to roll out.

As I already hinted, next week we will have more news about Android 15, but really not only because of what we were told at the Google developer event, but also because we hope that at the same time, A second public beta is also released (i.e. not intended only for developers), which over time could also reach more devices than the one on which the first one was installed.

While we wait for that moment, today we have more news extracted from beta 1 and as we read in PhoneArena, Android 15 will include new features to improve our sleeping habitsa field that manufacturers have been focusing on for a long time, especially since they began to understand the impact that using a smartphone immediately before trying to sleep can have, mainly due to the type of light on the screen, but also other stimuli that come from the device.

Currently, Android already has sleep mode, which allows you to adjust screen properties, automatically activate Do Not Disturb mode and, depending on the device in use, also record coughs and snoring during pre-defined sleep hours. However, with Android 14, only the operating system can make adjustments in this regard (except for adjusting its time range), which is understandable on the one hand, but can be a limitation in certain cases.

This limitation may disappear in Android 15, as an analysis of the current beta revealed This power will no longer be exclusive to the operating system, this means that third-party applications will gain access to these functions and will be able to modify them if we wish. This can be very handy if we use other health and lifestyle apps.
