Palo Alto Networks introduces Precision AI, a new AI-powered system for faster and proactive cybersecurity.
Palo Alto is adding a layer of AI to its existing platforms with Precision AI. Precision AI combines machine learning, deep learning and generative AI in Palo Alto Networks’ Strata (network security), Prisma (cloud application security) and Cortex (SecOps) platforms. The system must better protect networks and infrastructure from cybercriminals.
Precise AI functionality
Precision AI expands the capabilities of Palo Alto’s security platform in several ways. For example, the AI approach must detect threats created with AI, but also improve existing security mechanisms. Palo Alto signals the following new functionality:
- Precision AI security package: provides services such as URL filtering, Advanced Wildfire and DNS security. These tools use AI to combat web-based threats and zero-day attacks.
- AI access security: Gives employees access to AI tools with complete visibility, control and data protection.
- Prisma Cloud AI Security Posture Management (AI-SPM): identifies vulnerabilities and misconfigurations in the AI ecosystem for improved compliance and data security.
- AI runtime security: Protects AI-powered apps from injections, DoS attacks, and insecure output.
- Code-to-Cloud AI features: provides recommendations for complex risks and possible break-in routes.
- Simplify security with AI: Copilots with precision AI on the Strata, Prisma and Cortex platforms.
According to Palo Alto, Precision AI comes into its own in a platform approach. This is not a surprising result: all major security players today point to the added value of a platform approach, where a primary security provider is responsible for the majority of security. Palo Alto, like its competitors, wants to be that major player.
The integration of AI is also not new: Since the AI hype began last year, other security specialists have been enthusiastically and quickly highlighting the AI aspect in new security solutions. However, Palo Alto has very consistently expanded its capabilities with AI techniques. Top form
