One UI 6.1 is an update eagerly awaited by users of the Galaxy S22 family, as well as the foldable Galaxy Z Fold4 and Flip4. And yes, you may be experiencing a sense of déjà vu, as this deployment already began over a week ago in South Korea, Samsung’s home market. This, barring surprises, is the last step that One UI 6.1 will take in relation to the older generations that will receive this update. We saw the previous movement in this sense at the end of March.
Shortly thereafter, however, this deployment began some users started reporting problems with it. Specifically, as we were able to read, after installing this update, there was an issue that made it impossible to use the touch function on the lock screen, and even after finding a way to restart the device, the lock remained. So the only way to fix it was to factory reset the phone.
Although the problem seemed to affect only the Galaxy S22 family, for security reasons, Samsung preferred to pull this update for all devices of this generation with the intention of studying what happened and of course solving it so that users update to One UI 6.1 will not be this affected by the problem. If it is true that the technology company did not explicitly confirm the acceptance of the problem, but that the download was withdrawn was a clear signal in this sense.
There was no official confirmation of the problem and no confirmed solution either, but everything indicates that it has already been found, because according to the technology company itself Samsung has started the international rollout of One UI 6.1 for the Galaxy S22. The communication in the previous link specifically refers to the United States, but we have already found links that indicate it has been issued for other geographies as well.
The reason why this update is so anticipated is none other than today’s hot topic, artificial intelligence, and that’s because One UI 6.1 brings Galaxy AI to these devices, a set of AI-based features that Samsung introduced in its first Galaxy Unpacked this year, which have both its own features and others that Google has licensed for Samsung devices, such as Circle to Search. The function, which, by the way, will finally arrive and as we can read in the mentioned statement, will also be available on the Samsung Galaxy S21, Fold3 and Flip3.
