Electric vehicle manufacturing brand Ola ElectricThe Bengaluru-based company has applied for patents for three upcoming electric bikes. The new motorcycles are similar to the Ola Roadster concept electric bike introduced on the company’s website. The famous electric scooter series Ola S1 has been a huge success despite issues with battery drain. Ola Electric is planning to enter the electric motorcycle segment by applying for patents for upcoming motorcycles.
Design and features
Ola has worked on many ideas in the past, but these latest patent applications could signal a new direction. The latest patent filings in India show that the company has filed three new patents for electric motorcycles. The three designs in the patents can be converted into three different versions of the Cyber Racer model. The three models in the patent images have visual differences that distinguish each from the others.
As for the models, it is the patent base model with the thinnest tire and basic alloy wheel design. It has a motor mounted on the hub of the rear wheel, a main swingarm and shock absorbers. It has sharp curves and a flat one-piece seat. The other two models are sportier than the base version, and both appear to share the same basic features, including the drivetrain, suspension, swingarm and most of the dashboard. However, there are some differences that distinguish the two models.
One of the models has a single-person architecture and the other has a two-person architecture. The ergonomics are also slightly different between the two sporty models of the upcoming Ola Electric motorcycles. The single-seat version has a longer and straighter handlebar, while the latter has a clip-on handlebar.
There are a few more differences between Ola Electric’s three patents, including battery cooling, body and front end. There is no indication of the launch date of these models yet. However, the patent application may indicate that the launch of new Ola Electric motorcycles may be on the horizon.
