Apple’s current president, Tim Cook, will sooner or later leave his position and will need a successor. Bloomberg insider and journalist Mark Gurman believes Jeff Williams could be the next chairman of the Cupertino giant.

Williams currently serves as Apple’s chief operating officer. According to Gurman, Williams now manages all of Apple’s operations and is responsible for the company’s supply chain. It’s also interesting that Williams is often referred to as “Tim Cook’s Tim Cook” because Williams’ biography is so similar to Cook’s, from his work at Apple to his Southern upbringing to his degree at Duke University. Granted, Williams is only two years younger than Cook, so if he remains in his current role as Apple’s chief, Williams may not be able to keep up because of his age.

Gurman also says that Craig Federiga, who is in charge of software development, does not have the business acumen needed to run the entire company.

Another serious rival is John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of hardware development. He only joined Apple’s management team in 2021, but he climbed the career ladder very quickly. Now uses Mac, iPad, AirPods, and most recently connected iPhone and Apple Watch. And now it’s responsible for nearly all of Apple’s revenue-generating hardware.

Gurman also states that Tim Cook is no longer under any pressure and can remain at the helm of Apple for a long time.
