Starlink is “suspended”

The businessman said that Starlink satellites are under great pressure, but they are “holding on” for now. The magnetic storm negatively affected satellite communications.

It is the largest in the last 20 years, according to the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. A stronger pressure was last recorded in October 2023.

Analysts predict that the magnetic storm will likely continue through the weekend and pose a threat to the functioning of navigation systems, power grids and satellite navigation.

At first it was seen by residents of the Eastern and Southern regions, and later by residents of the central, northern and western regions. It is worth noting that the Northern Lights are a rare event for our latitudes. This is the result of a coronal mass ejection that occurred on the Sun between May 8 and 9.

Russians use Starlink in Ukraine

In February this year, Ukrainian intelligence announced that the Russians were using “stralinka” in the occupied regions. Musk himself denied that the company sold these systems to an aggressive country.

GUR assumes that the invaders are purchasing “starlink” through third countries, that is, they are smuggling.

As Bloomberg writes, the Pentagon, together with the SpaceX company and the Ukrainian government, have taken measures to prevent unauthorized use of Starlink Internet terminals by the Russian military. The Ministry of Defense does not disclose methods and tactics. They say that so far the use of “Starlink” by the invaders has decreased. However, the problem still remains valid.
