The Ibu volcano in eastern Indonesia has erupted. sent a column of smoke and ash 5000 meters high. that is moving to the west, indicated the Indonesian Institute of Volcanology (Magma).
Mount Ibu is about 1325 meters high, located on the island of Halmahera in the province of North Maluku. The eruption occurred at 9:12 am on Sunday. as stated in Magma’s statement.
The institute stated that the cloud of ash and smoke is dense, gray and raised the aviation alert to the maximum red level.
Authorities have asked that no one approach radius less than 3 kilometers and set a wider limit of 5 kilometers in the northern part of the volcano, where the active crater is located.
In addition, the Volcanological Institute recommended use of masks and protective glasses for people who go outside in the vicinity of the volcano.
Indonesia There are more than 400 volcanoes here. of these, at least 129 remain active and 65 are classified as dangerous.
The Indonesian archipelago is located within the so-called Pacific Ring of Firean area of great seismic and volcanic activity, shaken by about 7,000 earthquakes per year, most of which are of small magnitude.
