Apple and Google have launched their new project to protect user privacy with a new specification that now allows. Detect unwanted location trackers on Bluetooth devices. This collaboration comes to life with the arrival of iOS 17.5 on Apple devices, and in the case of Android, it will work on all phones with Android 6.0 or above.

In the case of iOS, these notifications will work thanks to Apple’s Find My network, which has been available to third parties for three years. Devices will receive a notification that an item has moved with us if a Bluetooth tracker is found. It follows us “throughout time.”

It is not detailed how long we need to keep the tracker nearby, but this is a function we can already verify when finding an AirTag that is not connected to our iPhone.

The main advantage this network has is that we can: Play a sound to find the audienceIt’s an extremely useful option if they’ve placed a Bluetooth device somewhere and we can’t find it.

Manufacturers such as Chipolo, Eufy, Jio, Motorola and Pebblebee have committed to making their devices compatible with these protocols. Similarly, any device that meets both Google and Apple’s Search network specifications should work.

In the case of Android, the functions will be similar: we will receive a notification on our mobile phone with Android 6.0 or above, so we will be able to alert the user if there is a tracker nearby. This alliance was announced in May 2023 but did not come into effect until yesterday, May 13.
