MyGov.be is the new Belgian digital identity wallet that allows citizens to view their identity data, driving license and other government documents via their smartphone.

The Belgian government is launching a new app that allows citizens to view all their government documents offline. The MyGov app is still in its first phase and will eventually display your identity details and driver’s license and other government documents. Currently the application is still in its first version and new features are being added step by step. The app is not mandatory and can be activated via Itsme or eID.

With this new application, users will have access to identity data, eBox messages, certificates and official documents (such as birth certificates, marriage certificates or vaccinations) as well as administrative processes via their smartphone. In addition, there will also be the option to sign electronically in a later version. The documents can also be viewed offline, which is ideal for abroad.

“The Belgian institutional model is complex. With MyGov.be, government services are finally available anywhere and at any time to citizens who want them.
This simple, scalable and secure app is a new, smoother and more intuitive means of communication between citizens and government services. I am sure that many other government services will soon introduce new functions that will complement the seven already available for the benefit of all Belgians,” said the State Secretary for Digitalization, in charge of administrative simplification and data protection.

Available in 2026

The basic version of the app can already be downloaded today, but its scope is limited for the time being. Your identity details and driving license will be visible on MyGov, but they will not yet have any legal significance. We’ll have to wait a little longer for that.
