The statement clarified that these seizures are the result of Operation Apollo, a comprehensive anti-fentanyl effort that began in the south of the country. California in October 2023 and expanded to Arizona in April 2024.

Operation Apollo focuses on intelligence gathering and partnerships, leveraging local CBP field resources complemented by federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial partners to increase resources, expand cooperation, and attack smuggling fentanyl in the USA.
