The NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope photographed the mysterious globular cluster Ruprecht 106 in space.
According to Ukrinform, the observatory reports.
It turns out that almost all globular clusters contain groups of stars with different chemical compositions, although all the stars that make up globular clusters form at approximately the same place and at the same time.
These “chemical fingerprints” are left by groups of stars that differ in age or composition from the rest of the cluster.
However, a small fraction of globular clusters do not have these numerous star populations, and Ruprecht 106 is a member of this mysterious group.
It is stated that the photo itself was taken thanks to the ACS (Camera for Advanced Studies) installed on the telescope.
As Ukrinform reports, the Hubble Space Telescope photographed Arp 298, a striking interacting pair of galaxies in the constellation Pegasus.
