The new AMD Ryzen 8000F processors are now available internationally. Its price is quite attractivelower than expected when they were announced a few months ago in the Chinese market.
The AMD Ryzen 8000F are socket AM5 “Hawk Point” desktop processors, but they have a major difference from the equivalent mainstream 8000G models: They do not contain integrated graphics. (Or they are forbidden). Therefore, the designs are not for all users, but they provide more alternatives and lower prices.
Here we have to remember that many users don’t want/need a dedicated graphics card, which – from mid-range and up – costs a fortune, generally much more expensive than the CPUs themselves. Both Intel and AMD markets are designed for this group of users (which is the majority), and include CPUs, GPUs, NPUs, controllers, and core components such as cache. Integrating all these components is a good way to reduce production and potentially lower costs for the end customer. But not all scenarios are the same and For users looking to install dedicated graphics, you may be drawn to the design at hand.
AMD Ryzen 8000F, one more alternative
AMD announced the new “F” as part of its overall plan “attack all price ranges”. And therefore, good prices were expected for these models, at least lower than their “G” counterparts with integrated graphics enabled. However, they are also slightly below expectations. AMD released only two versions and both are reaching the international market.

Ryzen 7 8700F
The highest model has 8 cores and 16 native ZEN 4 processor threads with 24 MB of buffer memory, a maximum frequency of up to 5 GHz and a TDP consumption of 65 watts. Very similar to the Ryzen 7 8700G “Hawk Point” APU, but without the enabled Radeon 780M graphics chip. The price from major US retailers (Newegg and B&H) is 269 dollars, while what we see for Europe means a price of 329 euros. AMD takes it up with the Intel Core i5-14400F.

Ryzen 5 8400F
This model does not have an equivalent in the general line, but it will likely be between the 8500G and 8300G with its 6 cores and 12 processing threads, 22 MB of buffer memory, a maximum frequency of up to 4.7 GHz and a TDP consumption of 65 watts. American retailers only have it on sale 169 dollarswhile we Europeans hope they don’t cross the 200 euro mark.

Summary. AMD Ryzen 8000F are not for all users for the reasons mentioned, but they can be another alternative for use in configurations where we are sure to install an additional graphics card in the processor. The prices are quite reasonable and they are compatible with common AM5 socket motherboards. I decided that they come in a box that includes an AMD Wraith Stealth air fan.
