Google introduces Gemini Live, a new mobile experience that lets you have natural conversations powered by AI.

At the I/O 2024 event, Google introduced Gemini Live, which makes it possible to have natural conversations with AI and also share camera images at a later date. The company strives to have the most natural conversation partner possible, with whom you can practice application or presentation skills, for example. Project Astra, which will be integrated into Gemini Live later this year, allows users to film their surroundings and share them with Gemini Live for conversation.

Natural conversation

With Gemini Live, Google aims to be as natural a conversation partner as possible, allowing you to talk to people at your own pace and even pause responses. For example, it can help users simulate a job interview where AI will ask you relevant questions about the position. Gemini Live will be available to Gemini Advanced users in the coming months.

Project Astra

In addition to Gemini Live, Google also introduced Project Astra: a next-generation virtual assistant that can take Gemini Live to the next level. Astra can view camera images and answer questions in real time. This allows you to have conversations based on what you film with your camera. According to the company, Astra Live video features would be introduced in Gemini Live later this year.
