AI, artificial intelligence

Even if most companies don’t see AI as a major challenge, employees certainly experience it that way.

A European survey by HR specialist SD Worx of more than five thousand companies, including 300 Belgian employers and 1,000 Belgian employees, shows that one in three (31%) Belgian companies are currently investing in artificial intelligence in the workplace. This is completely in line with the European average. Outliers are Poland (42%), Romania (40%) and Italy (36%). Finland (25%) seems to give this issue less priority.

Even if most companies don’t see AI as a major challenge, employees certainly experience it that way. One in five Belgian workers surveyed (21%) fear that (generative) AI will take over a significant part of their tasks.

For employees who already work with (generative) AI, this proportion rises to 32 percent. The survey also shows that one in six Belgian workers (16%) now regularly uses AI in their job. More than seven in ten (73%) Belgian workers who use AI find this technology valuable in their work and feel much more productive. These results correspond to the European average.

“Artificial intelligence can create great added value, such as improved efficiency, faster customer service or interesting insights that HR managers can use,” says Tom Saeys, COO at SD Worx. “It’s important to find the right balance between technology like AI and human support.”

“We promote and implement innovations for the benefit of our customers and employees. We assume that this will not come at the expense of jobs; Net additional jobs are created. But it requires a different approach, continuous training and a lifelong learning process for both companies and employees to achieve its full potential.”
