Americans Hector Alejandro Apodaca Alvarez53 years old, and Mark Anthony Roque BustamanteThe 33-year-olds were sentenced to life imprisonment for their participation in drug trafficking network which operated in at least eight states of the country, including Florida, California, Arizona and Massachusetts.

Apodaca Alvarez worked directly with Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada Garciaco-founder of the Sinaloa cartel.

Also sentenced were Austin Americans Tom Groupi, 43; Jose Chavez Zaragoza, 38; Jonathan Nicholas Chavez, 25, and Mexicans Luis Tejada Velazquez, 37 years old, and Jorge Moreno, 28 years old.

They were all arrested in the USA and pleaded guiltyThis is stated in a statement by the Department of Justice (DOJ).

According to the indictment, from June 2022 to May 2023, Apodaca Alvarez, who was previously convicted of drug trafficking offenses in three federal districts before his arrest in this case, used the US Postal Service and his own trucking business to send tens of thousands of drugs to an undercover agent based in South Florida.

The agent also did drug trafficking network operations in California, Arizona and Massachusetts.

Apodaca Alvarez told the undercover agent that he was directly coordinating with members of the Sinaloa Cartel to facilitate large-scale drug distribution, and He claimed that the potency of the compressed fentanyl tablets he sold was “causing people to fall all over the place.”– the Ministry of Justice explained in detail.

After tracking Apodaca Alvarez, investigators determined Roque Bustamante as the main source of drug supply. Both expected the undercover agent to provide them with firearms, including high-powered rifles, that would be smuggled into Mexico.

Apodaca Alvarez was arrested in Florida during delivered 16 kilograms of fentanyl and 2 kilograms of cocaine to an undercover agent..

Tejada Velazquez was sentenced to 242 months in prison.
