An enthusiast with the pseudonym Dietmar managed to run Windows XP on an Intel i486 processor. At first glance you might think that these are almost the same generation of products, but no: the CPU was released 10 years before the release of Windows XP. Additionally, running this operating system on this CPU was previously considered impossible, as the operating system requires a much more modern 233 MHz Pentium CPU.

In this case, the situation is not at all the same with Windows 11, where the system can be easily installed on processors much older than the models specified in the compatibility list.

The author of the project had to use a powerful disassembly and debugging tool to look at the opcodes and then replace the opcodes that caused the CPU to crash with codes that the Intel i486 actually understands. As a result, it was actually possible to run the system on the old CPU.
