It’s been a little over a year since Max was officially announced, as a result of the merger between WarnerMedia and Discovery, in a move that had been anticipated for more than a year due to this date. Of course, as we were already told at the time, the deployment of the new platform, resulting from the merger of the two companies, took place gradually. In the case of Spain, they confirmed to us that it will happen in 2024.

Since then, we’ve been waiting for confirmation of key aspects of this change, although we’ve already been very clear that all the information will start coming in as the change gets closer. With one important exception, of course, which is what we knew from the beginning is that in our case Max would be the sum of HBO Max and Discovery+ contentquite an interesting mix, as it combines HBO’s extensive and excellent catalog of feature films with Discovery’s large volume of reality TV production.

We finally found out last March The date chosen for Max’s debut in Spain is May 21stThat said, tomorrow and recently they have confirmed the prices that the plans for this new platform will have and what we can expect from the migration process. So with just a few hours left, it’s the perfect time for a final reminder of the most important points we need to consider, whether we’re users or considering subscribing to Max once the transition is complete. .

The switch from HBO Max to Max will be tomorrow, what should you know?

What worries many the most is, of course, the question of prices. At this point, we don’t know if Max will debut with an initial offering similar to what was offered with HBO Max or SkyShowtime. What we do know, as I recalled earlier, are the rates of the two plans it will debut with in Spain. They are the following:

  • Standard plan: two devices simultaneously, Full HD and up to 30 downloads for offline viewing. 9.99 euros per month.
  • Premium plan: four devices simultaneously, resolution up to 4K with sound up to Dolby Atmos (subject to availability) and support for up to 100 downloads. 13.99 euros per month.

As you can see, the price of the standard plan is the same as the single HBO Max subscription level and all accounts will be automatically migrated to it. And as they also clarified a few weeks ago, subscribers who enjoyed the 50% off offer, they will continue to have the same.

Additionally, The Max will also have what they call a Sports Complementwhich for a monthly fee of 5 euros will provide live broadcasts of some sports events, including those on Eurosport 1 and 2. It will allow simultaneous playback on up to two devices.

Except, There won’t be a cheaper plan with advertising… for now. Yes, from tomorrow it will be available in other countries, but in Spain we will have to wait.

As for the accounts, they will be migrated automaticallyand the app on different platforms will prompt users to download the app corresponding to the new platform, as it appears that the HBO Max app will not automatically update to the Max version. Web access, if we use the current url, it will redirect us to the new one.
