Lenovo introduces its Copilot Plus notebooks with Snapdragon

Lenovo is one of many manufacturers to introduce its Copilot Plus notebooks, a new generation of “Windows on ARM” devices that will be available in two versions, the consumer Yoga Slim and the more professional ThinkPad range.

Although it is launching its own Surface device, Microsoft’s support for its hardware partners is complete and were advertised at yesterday’s event as a great appetizer for the BUILD 2024 developer conference Of course, everyone will be using Windows, which we hope can run on ARM and Qualcomm’s latest PC processors, the Snapdragon X.

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x

As we told you at the time, this Yoga will be the first of Lenovo’s Copilot Plus laptops. Externally, it follows the general design line of models that the Chinese company launched on the market with an Intel processor. There will be great news insidewith Snapdragon

Lenovo repeats the thin and light design (1.28 kg weight) of the model with Intel and mounts a high-quality screen up to 14-inch OLED multi-touch diagonal with a native resolution of 3K, a refresh rate of 90 Hz and an incredible 1,000 nits of maximum brightness. It supports Dolby Vision and has TÜV Low Blue Light certification against blue light. The Chinese manufacturer will offer more modest but inexpensive IPS panels.

Other additional features include a large trackpad, a FullHD webcam with infrared transmission and Windows Hello, three USB Type-C ports and the debut of wireless connectivity. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3. Its battery is 70 Wh, which should offer a good number of hours of autonomy.

With Windows 11 pre-installed and in blue, its base price starts at $1,299. Like other Copilot Plus notebooks, they are quite expensive for a platform that is just starting out and has a lot to prove.

Lenovo ThinkPad T14s

A model aimed at the commercial area, riskier than Yoga given the large presence of Intel and its x86 platform in companies. As with consumption, it remains to be seen if this new Windows on ARM has a long way to go.

The ThinkPad is similar to the Yoga in almost every aspect like its 14 inch screen with the option of fitting from IPS base to OLED with 2.8K resolution. The SoC is mounted inside Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite and even more memory capacity, up to 64 GB of LPRRD5X dual-channel memory along with a 1 TB SSD.

It has all the connectivity of the Yoga (Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, USB Type-C ports…) to which is added a fingerprint reader on the PC power button with a secure dTPM core. The ThinkPad T14s with a black finish and pre-installed Windows 11 will be even more expensive, starting at $1,699. Like I said, many unknowns and more at these prices.
