Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation José Manuel Albarez said on Tuesday that Spain recalls its ambassador to Argentina after an open diplomatic crisis with the president of that country, Javier Miley.

At a press conference after a meeting of the Council of Ministers of Spain, Albarez noted that because the situation has not changedwithout an apology from Miley after his demonstrations against the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, and his wife, Begoña Gómez, Argentina will “continue to work without an ambassador.”

“For those who want to understand this, “Cooperation is always stronger than confrontation” noted the Minister of Foreign Affairs, emphasizing that “Spanish institutions do not engage in politics, and especially foreign policy, through tweets and do not participate in any “shows”.

In his first reaction to the review of the Spanish Ambassador, made through the LN+ TV channel, Miley called the Spanish measure “nonsense.”

The Argentine President also recommended Pedro Sanchez look for a “good lawyer for your wife.”

In telephone statements to the TV channel Nation+, Shortly after the statement by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Miley noted that This measure is “nonsense, typical of an arrogant socialist.” and added that “socialists are capable of anything.”

“This tarnishes Spain’s international image. and how arrogant they are, as if they believe that they are the state and that no one can tell them anything,” said the Argentine president, who denied that his country was going to take any such measures.

The crisis erupted this Sunday after Miley, at an event organized in Madrid by the far-right party Vox, without directly naming him, called the president of the Spanish government, the socialist Pedro Sánchez, a “scumbag” and called his wife Begoña Gomez “corrupt.”

The minister recalled that Spain made all the necessary investments last weekend to welcome you with the hospitality and dignity that the position that Javier Miley represents deserves.

“We are faced with a case that is not only unique to this government, but also also in the history of international and diplomatic relations”stated about the situation that developed after the words of the President of Argentina and his refusal to correct the situation.

“There is no precedent for a head of state to travel to the capital of another country to insult its institutions,” and commit “blatant interference in internal affairs” – Albarez noted.

The ideas are controversial, but institutions, governments and countries are not, added the minister, recalling that Miley also did not ask for any meeting with any Spanish institution, despite the fact that this is his first visit to Spain, as is customary, especially with Latin American leaders.

Regarding the measures taken by the government, Albarez recalled that in three days of the diplomatic crisis there were three: a call for consultations from the ambassador in Buenos Aires, a call to the Argentine ambassador in Madrid and today permanent recall of the Spanish representative in this country.

From now on, the embassy will be responsible for chargé d’affaires.

“(Pedro Sanchez) He’s such a coward that he had to send me to beat up women. “It’s a kind of furious cowardice.”– said the President of Argentina, referring to statements made against him by the second vice-president of the Spanish government, Yolanda Diaz; and Minister for Science, Innovation and Universities Diana Morant.
