The business version of the Microsoft Edge web browser gets additional security features, including blocking screenshots. Companies can now also add their own name and logo to the browser.

During the build, Microsoft announced new features for Edge for Business, a version of the browser designed for businesses with an additional layer of security. Microsoft continues to increase protection against data loss through browser applications. It’s about the simplest form of copying and distributing data: taking screenshots.

Administrators can no longer take screenshots in the web versions of Microsoft applications. When a user opens the Windows Snipping Tool to take a screenshot, the screen goes completely black. Consequently, a screenshot created will not contain more than a black box. Replies from Copilot can also be protected in this way in Edge.

Edge also now better respects permission restrictions for sensitive Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files. Not only can you restrict screenshots of these files, but you can also prevent Copilot from referencing these documents via “sensitivity labels.” Additionally, management tools have been improved to update older browser instances faster, control Copilot’s access to web content, and add Edge for Business support for session policies via Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps.

In addition to more security, Microsoft also offers companies the opportunity to adapt the Edge browser to their corporate identity. Businesses can add their company name, logo, and colors to the profile menu and taskbar. This makes it clear to users who configured the browser they are working in, Microsoft said in a blog.

Eventually, Microsoft will also add live translation for videos. The Dutch language is not initially supported, but you can, for example, translate English videos into Spanish and vice versa.

All announced features for Edge for Business will be available in “the coming weeks and months.” Microsoft introduced the enterprise version of the Edge browser at the Build edition last year. Chrome now also has a business browser, but Google charges a monthly fee of six dollars for maximum security. Microsoft is not charging any costs for Edge for Business for the time being.
