Nutanix announces new features for its hybrid cloud platform and AHV hypervisor. Two themes are at the center: sustainability and modernization.

Nutanix is ​​unveiling new features of the Nutanix Cloud Platform and AHV Hypervisor focused on energy management and infrastructure modernization at its .NEXT conference in Barcelona. These additions help companies with their sustainability initiatives and provide flexible ways to reuse existing server hardware.

Energy management and sustainability

Nutanix has announced new energy consumption monitoring capabilities within the Nutanix Cloud Platform. These features help companies improve their sustainability plans by providing near real-time energy consumption data. Customers can visualize this performance data through their Nutanix dashboard, providing greater insight into the energy consumption of their IT environment.

A study by Nutanix showed that 88 percent of companies consider sustainable IT a priority. The company responds with detailed energy consumption information that helps replace estimates and assumptions with accurate data. Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure and X-Ray benchmarking tool functionality helps customers make informed decisions based on concrete energy measurements.

Thomas Cornely, product manager at Nutanix, said the Nutanix Cloud Platform’s server-based web-scale architecture is helping to reduce energy consumption in data centers around the world. The new energy consumption visualization capabilities in Prism Central will help customers achieve their sustainability goals.

Modernization of infrastructure with the AHV

In addition to the focus on sustainability, Nutanix also announces new AHV implementation options. These are intended to help companies modernize their infrastructure by reusing existing server hardware. Nutanix is ​​working with Cisco, among others, to certify UCS blade servers to run the Nutanix AHV hypervisor. This offers customers more flexibility when modernizing their data centers.

The new AHV features such as Secure Snapshot and Multi-Site Disaster Recovery strengthen cyber resilience and support the continuity of business-critical applications. Nutanix also expands support for vSAN ReadyNode configurations, simplifying migration to the Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure solution and reducing total cost of ownership.

Improved IT operations and cyber resilience

Nutanix also adds automatic cluster selection to the AHV hypervisor, which simplifies the deployment of self-service applications by intelligently placing virtual machines into available clusters. This promotes balanced resource utilization without administrator intervention. In addition, Nutanix accelerates live migrations of large and active VMs through intelligent storage replication.

Thanks to Nutanix, enterprise virtualization is once again in the spotlight as an alternative for companies looking to manage their risks and modernize their IT operations.
