An analyst specializing in the Asian supply chain for Apple, Ming-Chi Kuo, has released a new report in which he talks about the much-rumored foldable MacBook. And it could arrive earlier than expected, in late 2025.

Technology analysts and journalists They’re still surprised that a company like Apple hasn’t entered the foldable device segment yet using the capabilities of flexible screens of the latest generation. And we’re not talking about laptops anymore, but about mobile phones with the no less expected foldable iPhone, rumors of which date back to five years ago, when Samsung announced its first ‘Fold’ device and an Apple patent came to light with a very similar design to protect yourself in against copyright conflicts in the future.

However, Apple has its own rhythm. It continues to sell mobile phones like hotcakes, and Mac sales are still growing since the switch to the ARM architecture. Even so, it’s surprising that Apple doesn’t have a foldable one on the market, and it wasn’t a mobile phone that came first, but a laptop. We’ll see. It won’t take long to launch.

According to well-known analyst Kuo, the laptop would push its arrival from the latest information to the last quarter of 2025 or the first quarter of 2026. The screen size, the key to these devices, would be 20.2 or 18.8 inches, two sizes that Apple is testing. We are talking about the total diagonal once deployed, because spol you don’t want to exceed 14 inches when folded.

It is assumed that the panel would be multi-touch to take advantage of the potential of optical pens in this type of format. The lower part, as we have already seen with the ASUS or Lenovo designs, could serve as a secondary screen or as a virtual keyboard. The analyst assures this LG display would be the exclusive supplier of screens. Apple wants the best for its first folding machine, and LG is a guarantee of production quality from the South Korean company.

The preferred form factor for those from Cupertino is book type, but horizontalwith a special hinge system (“as wrinkle-free as possible”) that was patented many years ago and aimed at ensuring that the folding mechanism can be applied to a wide range of devices, including phones, tablets, laptops and other portable devices.

As for the internal engine, Kuo talks about oa Apple M5, the next generation of the company’s own chips that have already proven their worth in previous series. And we come to the worst part about this foldable MacBook: its price. The analyst publishes figures for several components, with the screen and hinge being the highest to say that its launch price would be close to that of the Vision Pro viewer: from 3500 dollars and more.

Apple has better sales prospects for the foldable laptop than the headset, expecting to sell a million units in the first year. We’ll see. A debut in this segment with a foldable iPhone would be more logical given what Samsung is pushing, but perhaps Apple wants to dominate this format in notebooks first.
