As Ukrinform reports, the BBC reports.
The purpose of the Mayflower Autonomous Ship was to repeat the course of the famous English private cruise ship Mayflower, which carried pilgrims from Plymouth (England) to Plymouth in Massachusetts (USA) in 1620. Then this trip took more than two months.
The Mayflower Autonomous Ship began its departure on April 29 and its voyage was expected to take 2-3 weeks. However, due to technical problems on board, she was diverted to Halifax (Canada) where she only arrived on Sunday, June 5th.
It was noted that the 15-meter trimaran, which will run on solar energy, can accelerate to 20 km / h and is controlled by artificial intelligence on board, was created by IBM.
The original Mayflower was a 30-metre wooden ship with linoleum sails and a top speed of 6 km/h. It was carrying 102 passengers and about 30 crew members.
As reported by Ukirform, the AI robot Roameo will guard the Six Flags Magic Mountain amusement park located in Los Angeles, California.
