Actor Johnny Wactor, best known for his roles in more than 150 episodes of General Hospital as Brando Corbin, was shot and killed early Saturday morning while trying to foil a robbery in Los Angeles, US media reported today.
Vactor’s mother confirmed to trade media outlet TMZ that the 37-year-old artist was killed while trying to stop the theft of his car’s catalytic converter downtown.
Warctor allegedly encountered three men committing a robbery when one of them shot him. The suspects fled the scene.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), officers responded to the downtown area after a report of a man injured in a gunshot wound early Saturday morning.
The actor was taken to the hospital, where he died a few hours later.
Vactor began acting in 2007 on the hit Lifetime show Army Wives.
Some of her biggest works include Westworld, NCIS, Criminal Minds and Hollywood Girl.
From 2020 to 2022, he played Brando Corbin, married to drug addict Sasha Corbin, on the ABC series General Hospital.
Police said they were investigating the incident and that no suspects had been arrested.
Catalytic converter thefts have risen sharply in the United States in recent years, from 1,298 in 2018 to 52,206 in 2021, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau.
