Samsung is preparing its second annual Unpacked event scheduled for July 10 in Paris. There, it will present its new generation of Fold and Flip foldable smartphones, new wireless headphones and the latest in its line of wearables, its first smart ring, the Galaxy Ring.
Smart watches are sold almost equally in square and circular chassis designs. If the first of them has a clear influence on the Apple Watch (segment leader), the second has been chosen by Samsung (the second largest seller in the world) for its own. But why not use both?
That’s what Samsung had to think about when designing this Galaxy Watch7 Ultra, a next-generation flagship that should a circular screen on a square box. A brand new form factor for Samsung that would come with the addition of a rotating crown, a hallmark of Samsung watches, although not all models feature it.
Other innovations in design would come from behind third physical button between the usual two buttons, a set of larger speakers and more options for the new quick-release straps. The Ultra model is shown in black and white with dimensions of 47 x 47.4 x 16.4 mm and 1.5 inch AMOLED display.
We will also have news in the sensor group, another key section in smartwatches dedicated to monitoring health and sports activity, which could come from blood glucose measurement and improving cardiovascular rhythm parameters such as arrhythmias.
The Galaxy Watch7 Ultra would be the best of the new generation of Samsung watches, but not the only one, and in addition to the basic model of the Watch7, Classic or Pro, another novelty could come from the Galaxy Watch FE as an economic version. He’s talking about 399 dollars for this Ultra model, but we’ll have to wait until July to find out officially. In terms of software, all models will run Google Wear OS (version 5 in development) with the usual layer and Samsung apps. The alliance with Google was mandatory to compete with the Apple Watch and the fruits were seen last year with a big increase in sales.
