The fifth generation DM hybrid technology, which will be officially launched today, May 28, will usher in the “Second Era” in fuel consumption. Zhang Zhuo, general manager of BYD Auto Ocean Network sales department, said this and added that the fuel consumption of new models equipped with fifth-generation DM hybrid technology will be only 2-3 liters per 100 kilometers.
It was previously reported that BYD will launch the fifth generation DM (Dual Mode) hybrid technology on May 28, which will provide cars with a range of up to 2,000 km with a full tank of fuel and a fully charged battery.
Earlier this week, a monument to the world’s first plug-in hybrid car was unveiled at BYD’s manufacturing facility in Xi’an, northwestern China’s Shaanxi Province. While announcing the monument, the company talked about its plans to create next-generation hybrid technology.
BYD’s Dynasty sales general manager Lu Tian said that the Qin L, which will go on sale on May 28, will be BYD’s first hybrid sedan equipped with the fifth-generation DM system.
