Microsoft has begun testing optical text recognition capabilities in its Phone Link program. In Windows 11 test builds in the Beta and Development channels of the Windows Insider program, Phone Link version 1.24051.91.0 is available with the new feature enabled.

The new version of Phone Link in Windows 11 lets you extract useful text snippets from photos taken on your Android phone and copy them directly to your computer.

Note that text recognition has been available in Google Photos for all Android users for a long time. This feature also works on the Google Photos website.

Microsoft is constantly improving Phone Connectivity by adding new useful features. For example, in late February 2024, the company introduced the ability to use an Android phone as a webcam on a Windows 11 PC via Phone Link.
