Feeling sleepy when you get on a plane is not something that is unique to you. Many people experience the same situation. In case you have already noticed heads fall left and right you can see.

Have you ever thought there might be a reason why you feel so sleepy when you get on a plane? And several!

The first and biggest reason is busy.

When the plane cruises, the air pressure in the cabin drops to a pressure level that the body is not used to. Even though we are in pressurized cabins is lower than at ground level.

Pressure affects how much oxygen the body can absorb, and the lower the air pressure, the less oxygen the body absorbs. That is why we absorb less oxygen on the plane and the oxygen level in our blood drops tired and sleepy we feel.

Have you heard of “white noise”?

“White Noise” what we say; It resembles the rhythmic sounds heard in the womb, such as heartbeat and blood flow. For this reason, it is a relaxing and sleep-inducing sound for babies and adults. There are even such lists on Spotify, but let’s go back without deviating from the topic.

What we hear on the plane is about the engines rhythmic and continuous sounds created by airflow It can also create a white noise effect. That buzzing must have come to life in your ears.

Another factor may be humidity.

Airplane cabins are a bit dry. To give an example for comparison, the relative humidity in our homes is around 40%-60%. that of aircraft is 20%. This dry air may make us feel tired and fall asleep.

Whatever the reason, It is actually beneficial for us to feel sleepy on the plane. What else are we going to do, especially on plane trips that last hours?
