In principle, there was not going to be another version, but the pandemic changed the way we work and the Redmond giant also changed its plans. After planting a few clues, we learned about the existence of Windows 11 designed for “hybrid work” in 2021.

Windows 11 stuck with all this. The current scenario is far from ideal. One reason for this is that the operating system that is supposed to help distribute the latest AI news is not growing. Windows 11’s market share has been declining for several months. According to Statista data, it lost 1.98 percentage points in the last three months.

We’ll find out in time whether Copilot+ will become the lifeline Microsoft needs to regain market share for Windows 11. In any case, we will find ourselves faced with a fragmented system in the next few months. While some users will have Windows 11 that excludes the latest AI features, others will be able to take advantage of Copilot+ if they have compatible hardware.

Where is Windows 12? We cannot deny that Copilot+ offers a paradigm shift within Microsoft. The company appears to have a solid offering to introduce ARM computers for the first time; It’s an ambitious goal to have the equivalent of the MacBook Air, and in the meantime, it leaves Intel in a slightly uncomfortable position. But what if all these changes had come with Windows 12? A new version of the system could help Microsoft usher in a truly new era.
