how do you remember There was a recent presentation of GPT-4o, which almost immediately debuted on ChatGPT. It was quite a surprising presentation, firstly because in the previous days there had been a lot of speculation about its possible content, rumors that were not confirmed in the end, and which mainly pointed to the debut of the OpenAI search engine and the arrival of GPT-5. So when Sam Altman himself through his account ruled out both possibilities on Twitter, expectations for the presentation have dropped significantly.

However, in a presentation led by Mira Murati, the company’s CTO, with Mark Chen and Barret Zoph running the technical demos, we fully understood that GPT-40 deserves to be called GPT 2.0 (not to be confused with GPT-2, mind you), this is the first major evolution of OpenAI LLM, which is already natively multimodal, that is, without the need to use different models for each of the possible input and output types. (text, image and sound/voice).

One might expect that all or most of the new features of the new model will be exclusively for users of the premium mode of the chatbot, but Murati has focused practically from the beginning of the event on on free ChatGPT accountsa very pleasant surprise that, yes, gave a little kick to its main competitors, who reserve the most advanced features for paying subscribers of their equivalent services.

But during the presentation, we were told that the deployment of these features will be progressive and that we will have to wait a few weeks before we can start using them. As you can see in the tweet above this paragraph, free ChatGPT accounts already have many of these advanced features. Specifically, these are internet connection (browsing), image analysis (vision), data analysis, file uploading and access to GPT tags.

If you are a ChatGPT user with a free account, you may have been able to use these features before, in my case it was, but there were still accounts that didn’t have them. If this was the case for you, check it now because unless there is a specific problem, you should already have them enabled. As a reminder, these are all the features announced more than two weeks ago for all free accounts:

• Access to GPT-4.
• Answers from the model and with information from the web.
• Data analysis.
• Image analysis.
• File upload.
• Access to GPT tags

However, it is important to point this out Access to all these features is restricted to using GPT-4o only, and that it is limited to the daily usage volume of free accounts. Paid accounts also have this type of limit, but it is multiplied by five over the free accounts.
