The Flemish government enters into a strategic partnership with Cisco. The focus is on digital infrastructure and cybersecurity.
Jan Jambon, Prime Minister of the Flemish Government (N-VA), signed the cooperation agreement with Cisco today. Flanders will join Cisco’s Country Digital Acceleration program for the public sector, which is active in more than fifty countries. This joint initiative focuses on strengthening digital infrastructure, improving cybersecurity and developing digital skills.
The collaboration between the Flemish government and Cisco aims to achieve various goals. One of the priorities is to improve the digital infrastructure in Flanders. This includes promoting sustainable IT solutions and increasing cybersecurity measures. These measures are essential to protect critical infrastructure, information systems and online services from cyber threats.
In addition, special attention is being paid to strengthening the digital skills of the workforce. This is done, among other things, by integrating Cisco Networking Academy modules into the training programs for civil servants. The aim is to improve the IT training and cyber resilience of Flemish government employees.
Jan Jambon emphasizes the importance of this collaboration: “Our goal is to be among the top 5 in Europe with our digital citizen services in Flanders.” Sustainability, cybersecurity and employee training remain important priorities for the coming years. With this program, we are joining forces across public-private boundaries and I can’t wait to see the results.”
