Framework introduces new options for its Laptop 13. With other manufacturers we would call it a new version of the laptop, but thanks to the modular and upgradeable concept of the Framework Laptop 13, this is not the case here. The existing chassis remains and users can upgrade their own device if they wish.
For example, are you not crazy about the webcam? Then you can replace the old version with a new 9.2 MP sensor Pixel binningtechnology. It should deliver better FHD results, even in low-light conditions.
Is the 60 Hz screen with its 2,256 x 1,504 pixels no longer enough? Then you can click it out of your laptop and install a new display with 2,880 x 1,920 pixels and 120 Hz. The screen has a matte finish and a brightness of 500 nits. You can also choose both options for a brand new laptop 13.
Framework also includes Intel’s latest Core Ultra processors. If you want one of these new chips in your laptop, you can’t just swap out a module. After all, the CPU is connected to the motherboard and the cooling system, so this announcement definitely applies to new models.
Framework launched the Laptop 13 in 2021 and later brought it to Belgium. The original chassis has already received numerous upgrades and Framework wants to continue to support the modular concept. Framework wants to give users more control over the laptops they buy and is committed to a sustainable model where one or two outdated components are not a reason to throw away a laptop completely. This level of upgradeability is unique on the market.
In our review of the Laptop 13 at the end of 2023, we were not only impressed by the concept, we also liked the functionality of the notebook. Only the battery life and the loud fan were a drawback. Framework addresses both points with the Core Ultra Edition.
