Modern Apple devices often cannot boast of good repairability, and in some it is zero or even impossible to open them without damage. It turns out that this is a consequence of the high reliability of the company’s products.
Well-known blogger Marques Brownlee met with John Ternus, head of Apple’s hardware division, and they specifically touched on the issue of sustainability.

Ternus said Apple deliberately prioritizes the reliability of its products over sustainability.
It is better if the customer has high reliability. And ultimately it’s better for the planet because the dropout rate has dropped so dramatically since we hit the benchmarks.
Ternus added that at a certain level of reliability, you can sacrifice some maintainability because the former compensates for the latter.
As for reliability, Brownlee demonstrated testing processes in Apple’s labs here. It was revealed that the company tested more than 10,000 units of a single product before it went on sale. If problems occur after launch, the company will add the relevant tests to the test suite in the future.
