We’ve known for a few months that WhatsApp will give your favorite contacts a privileged place, and now we know exactly where that is: new favorite search filterabove the chat list.
This search filter will allow us to quickly find conversations of our close friends, if we have a large chat list. It is an alternative to setting up chat conversations.
A filter for your favorite friends
While WhatsApp is open for you to talk to friends, acquaintances, companies and even strangers, it can be more difficult find chats of your closest contactsafter being buried under other, more active conversations.
The solution to this will be one new WhatsApp filter called favoritesLike the rest, we can access our chats by sliding down slightly from the top. So far we had filters All, Not read And Groupswill be merged favorites.
Favorites will show us conversations (read or unread) People we mark as favoritesSomething we can do directly from the filter by tapping Add to favorites. We have seen in previous leaks that these favorite contacts will also appear highlighted when starting a new call from the floating button, and possibly do so when starting a new chat conversation as well.
The idea is to see at a glance Chats with the people who matter most to you It’s similar to Telegram folders in some ways, without having to search for the rest. According to WaBetaInfo, this filter is being enabled for a few users with beta version 2.24.12.7 of WhatsApp on Android and is expected to reach more users in the next few weeks.
