This Google Pixel 9 leak reveals the performance of Tensor G4. This is not good news

The Google Pixel 9 is a few months away from launch, and we already know about some pretty extensive leaks regarding its cameras, displays, and memory, and even as we look further into the future, we know the distant Pixel 10 will arrive with a new update. Google Tensor G5 chip made by TSMC… and thankfully there’s some guesswork Pixel 9’s Tensor G4 benchmarks saw the light and were disappointing.

The power of tensors did not shine. It won’t happen on G4 either

The leak comes from Rozetked, the same outlet that reveals lenses, displays, and other hardware specs. Doesn’t look good considering the performance expected from future high-end models Android or iPhone and Bionic A18 Pro with Snapdragon in charge.

Thus, the future Tensor G4 will have an eight-core configuration: one Cortex-X4 running at 3.1 GHz, three Cortex-A720 at 2.6 GHz and four Cortex-A520 at 1.95 GHz. As for the changes, the number of cores has been reduced in comparison. to the G3 (there are nine) and the clock speed is increasing on all of them.

So how is the performance of the set? The media leaked the results of synthetic tests such as the popular AnTuTu, which scored the Google Pixel 9 in the range of 1.07 – 1.17 million (the latter corresponding to a hypothetical Pixel 9 Pro XL). For some context, the base model of the Pixel 8 has a rating of around 900,000 points.

Yes there is improvement but it doesn’t matter. However, it is worth remembering that even if these tests are original, Google has the opportunity to improve them through optimization of its software. With these numbers, the performance of the future Pixels’ SoC is similar to the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which is not bad at all. The problem is that the ambitious Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is already in the oven and will be the chip other Android manufacturers will choose for their flagships.

Similarly, the leak also mentions the next foldable Google Pixel, which will theoretically launch at the same time as the Pixel 9 series and is likely to be released. Will share the features of the base model due to indoor problems.
