As it will be remembered, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Bulgaria formally addressed the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs with a request to provide weapons to combat Russian aggression. It was about howitzers and Soviet-style missile systems.

According to the decision of the Parliament cited by Kirill Petkov, the National Assembly authorized the Bulgarian Government to support Ukraine in the following areas:

  • continue to support Ukraine’s EU membership hopes;
  • provide assistance to citizens of Ukraine who have left the country because of the war;
  • promoting the export of Ukrainian grain through the Bulgarian port of Varna;
  • strengthening electricity and natural gas supplies, as well as energy cooperation in general;
  • Repair of Ukrainian military equipment at Bulgarian enterprises;
  • humanitarian aid, especially medicine, clothing and food.
