Snapdragon one of the most exciting innovations to hit the PC ecosystem in 2024. As expected, it was Qualcomm that provided a replica for the Windows market of the movement created by Apple in 2020, when it decided to abandon the x86-64 architecture and cooperation with Intel, and start developing its own SoC, the so-called Apple Silicon, based on the ARM architecture, which has so far not shown itself to be capable of making this leap successfully.

It’s been a few years since Apple’s bold and successful move, but two weeks ago, Snapdragon-embedded PCs with the Copilot+ PC specification, thanks to the NPU integrated into the chip and providing computing capacity for artificial intelligence tasks 45 TOPfive above the minimum set by Microsoft for this standard.

So far yes, we’ve only seen portable devices. Very interesting and varied equipment, of course, but only laptops, so now the big question is whether Qualcomm aspires exclusively to this market or, on the contrary, has considered jumping into the desktop segment. Or should we actually say it in the past tense, because although there is no further information about it, technology plans are shown.

The technology presentation at Computex 2024, which you can see in full in the video above this paragraph, did not show any great news, rather it was an update of what we have seen in recent weeks and a preview of new equipment. which will appear on the market in mid-June. But the most interesting part came when, with the image that opens this message in the background, Cristiano Amon (CEO of Qualcomm), claimed that Snapdragon will come to all types of PCs. In the picture you can see what looks like a mini PC and all in one.

This was, of course, a tentative preview of what was to come, and everything points to it we will have to wait a few more months to have more information about it. When? Maybe in October, when Qualcomm usually holds its big annual event. Again, however, we are waiting for rumors and leaks that, while not confirming us, give us clues about what we can expect from Snapdragon.
