The new rules allow users to share and distribute consensual images of adult nudity or sexual behavior as long as they are appropriately tagged and not displayed in conspicuous places such as profile pictures or banners.
After information about these changes began to spread on the network, the @Safety account of company X wrote the following message on its page:
To make it clearer and more transparent about how our rules are enforced, we’ve introduced a policy around adult and violent content. These rules replace our previous policy on sensitive media and violent expression; But what we struggle with hasn’t changed.
Interestingly, X has never banned pornography on the platform. This is what attracted most writers of NSFW (Not Safe for Work) content, especially after the launch of Twitter Blue (now X Premium).
This premium service allowed creators to monetize their content, similar to platforms like OnlyFans.
In March, X announced that NSFW communities could use the “Mature Content” flag to prevent posts from being automatically filtered.
The platform also talked about plans to hide likes on profiles due to concerns that users’ interaction with adult or inappropriate content could become public.
